Emergency patients with respiratory distress tend to be stressful for the emergency clinician as these patients are very unstable and obviously suffer. Stabilisation of oxygenation prior to diagnostic procedures are mandatory for a successful outcome. This webinar module will first focus on the general aspects of stabilisation of the dyspneic dog and cat followed by specific stabilisation methods based on the localisation of the respiratory problem. We will train this approach with video case discussions.
In the afternoon, specific emergency presentations such as pleural effusion, trauma-related respiratory distress and upper airway obstruction will be discussed and respiratory emergency procedures such as tracheostomy, thoracocentesis and chest tube placement will be teached with fotos and videos.
